July 9 A to Z Produce and Bakery

It is always special when I go to my number one favorite Pizza Farm, A to Z Produce and Bakery. The experience that Robbi and Ted have created for everyone who comes out to Pizza Night is what inspired me to start this blog and work on this website.

It was going to rain. But that has never stopped me before. Especially now that my brother gifted me a Pizza Hat Umbrella. And I had been looking forward to this trip all summer, so I was determined to go. I would’ve gone by myself if necessary, but I was lucky to go with my friends, K and John, who were both able to leave before 2pm. I had never left this early for the Pizza Farm and getting out of town was a breeze! I made it to the Stockholm Pie & General Store with plenty of time to spare. I even had a chance to cruise down to the river on one of the Stockholm Blue Bikes before the rain started coming down.

I over-ordered at the Pie Shop and then continued up the hill to A to Z. We arrived just as things were getting rolling and I called out my hellos to the farmers that I had come to know by name over the years. Everyone there has always made me feel so welcome and this trip was no exception. Robbi and Ted were excited to see me and to see Archer and Zadie and how they have grown. I also got to meet Robbi and Ted’s first grandchild, who was introduced with great pride!

My collection of Pizza Farm gear and Pizza apparel is constantly growing. One of the challenges of having so much stuff is that I feel like I arrive at every Pizza Night with my hands full of gear. So after all of our greetings, we set some of our Pizza Supplies down in the Coop and came back out to the menu to make our order. Of course, one of the great benefits of having so much Pizza stuff is that I get to share my things with others, like Zadie and Archer for example. Even though I know I already have what most people would consider too many pizza t-shirts, I was thrilled to see that A to Z finally had a t-shirt that I could purchase! It was from last year, 2018, to celebrate their 20th year of doing Pizza Nights and being The Pizza Farm. Yes, I did wear it to work the next day and show it off to everyone I talked to.

I put my rainboots on right away, because I know the tall, wet grass of the farm has soaked through my sneakers before. We took a little walk looking for animals before the pizza was ready, but we didn’t have to wait long since our Pizza orders were #3 and #4! We ordered half and half pies to make sure we got as many flavors as possible. I always have to get the Italian Garden when it is on the menu, because I love that basically every vegetable that is harvested that week is thrown on top. We also did pepperoni, Allium Family, and Sauteed Spinach. I can never pick a favorite. I love them all. While I was unpacking things before dinner, Archer, my four year old friend with a formidable sweet tooth, noticed the large bag of pie that I set aside for dessert. His appetite for pizza was greatly diminished once he realized there was pie coming later, but he still made room for some of the olives off of the Sauteed Spinach. And everyone enjoyed the pepperoni.

In between Pizza and Dessert, we took some time to walk around a bit more. The rain had stopped and it felt good to stretch our legs before digging into all the pie that we had brought with us. We ate coconut cream, chocolate cream, peanut butter fudge, and cherry pie to our heart’s content.

After all the eating, the walking, the catching up with Pizza Farmer friends, and the goodbyes until next time, we still left the farm by 6:30pm. It was a different experience to arrive so early and therefore to leave so early. Driving home in the daylight was a real treat!

Thank you again to Robbi, Ted and the other special people at A to Z Pizza Night for making it such a great experience.
